Father Andrew was asked by the inter-church council to read a prayer during the Proclamation Day service, held at the Old Gum Tree Reserve MacFarlane Street, Glenelg North on 28th December 2016.

Here is the prayer –

God of Community, God of this land and all people,

Today we gather and give thanks for this wonderful place of South Australia.

We give thanks for our community spirit, And all that we enjoy about our lives here.

We give thanks for a growing appreciation of the customs and culture of the Kaurna people,

We give thanks for a growing appreciation of multiculturalism within our community.

God of our lives, we acknowledge your guidance of those who have made up our community in the past,

and we pray that journeying into the future, we may grow stronger as a people of South Australia;

Living here with shared vision, creativity, endeavour, compassion and generosity of spirit.

Be our light now and always in our living and our loving. Amen
