This logo for the Parish is intended to capture in a simple design the essence of the meaning of the Anglican Church in our area. The elements included are:
  1. The Sea. Glenelg is a seaside parish. Its existence and founding by the sea are fundamental to the history of South Australia.

  2. The Fishing Boat. The boat represents both the settlement of Glenelg and the Christian example of the first apostles and Christ as fishers of humankind. The mast on the boat is the cross of Jesus’ sacrifice for us and the essential symbol of Christianity. The figure on the boat is that of Peter, on whom the church was founded and also of all the saints who have set examples for us to follow.

  3. The Catch of Fish. The fish caught in the net and being gathered in, represents on one hand, the four separate church centres in the parish, and on the other, the way for all people to find Jesus by submitting themselves to his care.

  4. The Scene. On the right side of the logo the rough sea represents the difficulties that we must experience in our lives. On the left side are calmer waters and tranquillity of birds flying overhead, which represents the peace of God to which the fish are heading.

  5. The Typeface. The typeface chosen here is a free form of script to indicate the less rigid side of Anglicanism. It shows that the Church is open to all and is willing to adapt to meet the changing world we live in.
