Liturgy

All regular services are based on A Prayer Book for Australia 1995. A sense of tradition is maintained by the forms of liturgy and the wearing of vestments. Many lay ministers take leading roles in our formal liturgies.

Besides the regular services of Holy Communion (times listed elsewhere), the sacraments of Holy Baptism (Christening), Marriage, Confession, are arranged by appointment.

Sunday Kids

These sessions for young people take place at St Peter's, Church in conjunction with Sunday worship. All children from age 4-12 are most welcome. The sessions begin at 10am in the St Leonard's Room and the children join the Eucharist at the Greeting of Peace.

Sunday Kids meet during term time.

Home Fellowship Groups

Several of these groups are set up within the parish, meeting in homes, for any interested people to come together in small groups. They enjoy a variety of activities including meals together, guest speakers, study and discussion, quiz sessions, etc.

Mothers' Union

MU has been a traditional group for people in the Anglican Church with the aim of upholding the principles of marriage and Christian family life. There are two groups in this parish meeting monthly, one on the 3rd Tuesday evening, the other on the 4th Wednesday afternoon.

Friendship Group

This group meets on the first Tuesday each month at 2.00pm and exists to offer friendship to those who like to come together to hear good guest speakers, to enjoy each other's company and have afternoon tea. The group welcomes men and women.

GALS

This acronym hides Glenelg Anglican Ladies, a group of women who come together on the 4th Tuesday evening in each month to visit a local coffee place for coffee, cake and chat.

Bible Study

For those interested in some serious Bible Study time, this group meets weekly, every Tuesday morning at 10am for about 1 hour. Men and women of all ages are most welcome.

Thursday Morning Fellowship

The Thursday Eucharist at 10am in the chapel is attended by some 15-25 people, who worship together and then enjoy morning tea. It is a great fellowship time for those who can attend, every week or just occasionally.

Pastoral Care Visitors

There are different areas for people to show care to others. Some people like to visit the lonely/shut-in to offer support. Some like to go to local Nursing Homes/Hospitals to gather people together for Church services, others are part of our Community Visitors' Scheme which involves different people being committed to visiting one particular person in a local nursing home and building up a relationship with them.

The Choir

This group leads the singing at the 10am Eucharist at St Peter's every Sunday. We welcome people of all ages to join the choir. Choir practice is one hour before the Sunday service, so the weekly commitment is from 9am-11.15am every Sunday morning. But you need to be able to sing.

Church Minders

This group of people are rostered to spend an afternoon in beautiful St Peter's Church so that it can be kept open to the public. There are many visitors to Glenelg who like to view the Church or spend a quiet time. This is a most valuable ministry and we are always looking for more people to share its important ministry.

Ministry of Volunteers

In the various aspects of parish life there are many opportunities for volunteers to be involved. Some take leading roles in pastoral care, others are valued members of the administration team who give time in the parish office. Many are involved in aspects of Sunday worship.
